"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring - it was peace." - Milan Kundera
Mo was that unusual dog who made friends with everyone he met and inspired
love wherever he went. He rarely barked, always smiled, and greeted human and dog alike with an invitation to play. His greatest
pleasure in life was to be around people and to make them laugh and smile. Over the years, countless guests to the inn and restaurant petted and played with Mo. His
gift was to bring joy to everyone he encountered. Mo was always active and loved to swim, canoe, snowshoe,
cross-country ski, and inline skate. He also loved to sit in a city sidewalk cafe and make friends
with anyone who walked by. He loved to travel and over the course of his life skied in Banff, hiked in Arizona, canoed in Utah, and
camped and back-packed in New Mexico and Colorado. But those who love Mo will remember him
where he was the happiest - taking a snow bath or covering himself in pond muck in the inn's backyard. He was an optimist who
never gave up chasing squirrels, birds, and frogs, despite the fact that he never came close to catching any of them. Mo's
innumerable friends, both human and canine, will always remember him. Please come and visit and bring your dog.
We have a few simple rules for visiting dogs: Back to The Millbrook Inn Homepage.
(1) Your dog can not be a barker. Our inn is small and barking would disturb everyone.
(2) When you leave the premises, your dog must go with you, although by prior arrangement we do sometimes make exceptions for a crated dog.
Of course if you brought your dog with you, you probably want to take him/her out to do all the fun stuff there is to do around here, anyway!
If you must go do something without your dog, we have a great Doggie Daycare nearby(802) 496-5944. They even pick up and deliver! Mad River Veterinary Service is conveniently located right next
door, and they have day care as well (802)496-7272. Of course if you are in the dining room, your dog is perfectly welcome to snooze in your room
and if you are here in the summer your dog is welcome to breakfast with you
on the patio.
(3) We request that your dog be at least one-year old. Puppies don't always
understand the rules -- especially the barking rule!
(4) We never charge extra for our four-legged friends.
